Alfie’s Second Chance Fund

What is the Alfie Second Chance Fund?

The Alfie Second Chance Fund provides financial assistance to pet guardians who cannot afford impoundment fees. The inability to pay these ongoing fees can strip guardians of their “ownership” rights, preventing them from fighting for reunification and putting animals at risk of being surrendered or killed. By offering support, the fund helps reunite pets with their guardians.

It Began With a Loss

When Alfie was taken, his family was required to pay an impoundment fee of $350 within 10 days of his impoundment. Without payment Alfie would have become the shelter’s "property", and been at immediate risk of being killed. Every month Alfie’s family fought to save his life, they had to pay an additional $300 to legally “own” him. This financial burden was unjust—lack of financial means should not strip a person of the power and right to fight for their beloved animal.
